Kurumun görev, yetki ve sorumlulukları şunlardır:a) Kuruma bağlı hastaneleri, ağız ve diş sağlığı merkezlerini ve benzeri sağlık kuruluşlarını kurmak ve işletmek,gerektiğinde bunları birleştirmek, ayırmak, nakletmek veya kapatmak.b) Kuruma bağlı sağlık kuruluşlarında her türlü koruyucu, teşhis, tedavi ve rehabilite edici sağlık hizmetlerininyürütülmesini sağlamak, faaliyetlerini izlemek ve değerlendirmek, iyi uygulama örneklerini yaygınlaştırmak, düzenleme yapılması ve politika oluşturulması maksadıyla Bakanlığa teklifte bulunmak.c) Performans değerlendirmesi yapmak, rapor hazırlamak, değerlendirme sistematiği için her türlü alt yapıyı kurmak.ç) Kendisine bağlı sağlık kuruluşlarında hasta haklarına, hasta ve çalışanların sağlığına ve güvenliğine yönelik iyileştirme çalışmaları yapmak.d) Görev alanı ile ilgili konularda ulusal veya uluslararası kamu veya özel kurum ve kuruluşlarla bilimsel ve teknikişbirliği yapmak, müşterek çalışma yürütmek.e) Hastane hizmetleriyle ilgili yapılacak çalışmalarda gerekli komisyonları kurmak.f) Kurum personelinin atama, nakil, özlük, ücret, emeklilik ve benzeri işlemlerini yürütmek.g) Kurum hizmetlerinin gerektirdiği her türlü satın alma, kiralama, bakım ve onarım, arşiv, idarî ve malî hizmetleriyürütmek.
