Society of Operations Engineers
Formed by the merger of the IRTE, IPlantE and BES, the Society of Operations Engineers (SOE) is a professional membership organisation, and registered charity, that supports and champions the work of engineering professionals in the road transport, plant and engineer surveying industries. SOE members receive a suite of benefits, including access to CEng, IEng, EngTech and CEnv registration. In addition, members are entitled to post-nominal letters, exclusive access to an online resource, industry leading technical magazines 'Transport Engineer' or 'Plant Engineer', both of which are also online at www.transportengineer.org.uk and www.plantengineer.org.uk, and invitations to technical events, seminars, networking opportunities and more. The IRTE manages irtec, an independent and renewable accreditation scheme assessing the competence of technicians working in the commercial vehicle, trailer and PCV industries. In addition, IRTE Services are partners in the Commercial Vehicle Show, and the IRTE produces the annual IRTE Skills Challenge - an exciting competition to find the best bus and coach engineers in the business! With partnerships in place with leading names in industry and training, SOE is perfectly placed to help develop, recognise and reward the vital contribution of its members.
