Our mission is rooted in Group Health Cooperative's legacy of social impact. Founded in 1946 as a radical alternative to traditional medical care, Group Health Cooperative's vision was bold: create a health system grounded in the principles of social justice and provide affordable, preventive, person-centered health care. Through engaging the voices of its members and exploring innovative approaches, Group Health Cooperative created a better way to promote the health and well-being of the individuals and families it served. That spirit is the cornerstone of Group Health Foundation. We are deeply committed to equity and to working with partners across the state to re-imagine how we foster conditions in which people of all communities, especially those experiencing social and economic injustices, can participate and prosper. We recognize the expertise and wisdom that communities bring and the importance of factoring the social determinants of health in identifying solutions that promote health. With more than $1.7 billion from Kaiser Permanente's acquisition of Group Health Cooperative, we have a remarkable opportunity to transform health policies and practices to support a more equitable future.
