Who are we? The BNP Paribas Fortis Foundation gives concrete form to the civic commitment of BNP Paribas Fortis. The Foundation provides financial and other support to charity organisations, promotes social cohesion within the Bank and gives staff opportunities to engage in social/charitable work. Through the work of the Foundation, the Bank attends to the needs of society at large, going beyond its loyal commitment to customers to provide support to disadvantaged citizens.2010, a new chapter opensThe establishment on 12 April 2010 of the BNP Paribas Fortis Foundation marked a chapter in the story of the Bank's civic engagement, with new approaches to the corporate philanthropy policy which the BNP Paribas Group has been pursuing worldwide for over a quarter-century and in Belgium since 1996. Clear objectivesIn our work to assist the underprivileged, we pursue a set of clear goals: we encourage Bank staff to become personally involved in philanthropy initiatives, we support social projects across the entire country and seek to forge long-term links with local charity organisations. The Foundation is open to dialogue, keen to support initiatives by Bank staff, and endeavours to link the banking world with the work of charities in this country. Three basic areasThe BNP Paribas Fortis Foundation's corporate philanthropy activities focus on three areas:• Encouraging Bank staff to become personally involved with charity projects• Organising civic initiatives with the support of the entire Bank in Belgium• Supporting educational projects run by Belgian charities with the aim of helping children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to integrate into societyGetting to know each other better helps to create strong cooperative links. The BNP Paribas Fortis Foundation also provides financial aid to charity initiatives, based on annual calls for projects. In all these ways, the Foundation seeks to help make our changing world a better world.
