Our roots date back to 1940, when Charlotte Memorial Hospital opened its doors and took in patients transferred from St. Peter's Hospital, which was the first public hospital in North Carolina. And, while it has been more than 75 years since our founding, we are more committed than ever to the bedrock of our mission: providing care for everyone, regardless of who they are, what their background or where they come from. Though the heart of our organization hasn't changed, we have evolved over the past 75 years, as has the healthcare field. This evolution underpins the importance of our mission. That mission?
